Practice Performance

Practice performance can be measured in several ways.

1. Quality and Outcomes framework (QOF)

In 2004 the government changed the contract it had with general practice.  QoF is an innovative way to reward primary care teams for providing good quality care for their patients and a way of funding the work needed to improve the health care delivered to people across the United Kingdom.  Practices are now getting paid a standard lump sum based on the number of patients and can increase their income by achieving quality indicators.

The quality indicators consist of non clinical and clinical indicators. The indicators are the same for every practice and are reviewed every 2 years by the Government. In 2006 Dementia, Chronic Kidney disease, Atrial Fibrillation and Mental Health Care Plans were added to the QOF.

1NEW43In 2007-08 your practice achieved 962.01 out of a possible 1000 points, or 96.2% of Achievement Points, which is 4% points above Coventry Average, 0.8% points above the England Average. More about the QOF HERE.

In 2006-07 your practice achieved 998.90 out of a possible 1000 points, or 99.9% of Achievement Points, which is 8.2% points above Coventry Average, 4.4% points above the England Average.

In 2004-05 your practice achieved 1048 out of a possible 1050 points, in 2005-06 your practice achieved 1050 out of 1050 points.

This graph shows the prevalence of various conditions that we treat against Coventry average and UK average.

2. Patient Survey

Every year since 2004 your practice asks the patients to fill in a patient survey that we can use to improve our services. The survey is anonymous and can be done by any of our patients. In order to get a representative survey done we would like to increase the number of patients that fill in a survey. A National Survey is now undertaken as well as detailed below and we will publish the 2009-10 Local Survey in due course.

Results of the Local 2009-10 Survey are HERE

The National GP Patient Survey for 2009 was developed with Ipsos MORI and academics from the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre and the Peninsular Medical School. Around 5½ million registered patients in England were invited to take part during January to March 2009. Their responses will provide even more valuable information for Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), GP practices and other patients about patient’s experiences when they access local services. The results were published on 30 June 2009 by Ipsos MORI.

3. Practice Audits

In the years before the QOF, the only way to improve the clinical services that the practice supplied and to demonstrate good clinical practice was to do clinical audits. These were not compulsory for general practice and it was up to the practice to decide which audits to produce. Your practice has been producing audits since 1997 and we are happy to share our results on this website.
