We undertake an annual patient survey and throughout the year now. For one week every month, we hand out questionnaires for patients to fill in and they cover all aspects of the surgery from the premises, to the staff, right through to consultations with doctors and nurses. You can also ask for the questionnaire at any time, some may be left in the waiting room for you to complete. At Green Lane Medical Centre we use a “touch-screen” questionnaire. We do ask that if you fill out one of these questionnaires that you complete it as honestly as you can. All results are confidential.
Once we have the results of our local survey we always feedback the outcomes to patients in February, along with any necessary actions we need to take.
The National GP Patient Survey for 2009 was developed with Ipsos MORI and academics from the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre and the Peninsular Medical School. Around 5½ million registered patients in England were invited to take part during January to March 2009. Their responses will provide even more valuable information for Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), GP practices and other patients about patient’s experiences when they access local services. The results were published on 30 June 2009 by Ipsos MORI.
